Quality-assured metadata spread far and wide

BiblioShare is a free quality-controlled aggregation system that collects and disseminates bibliographic data using ONIX throughout the Canadian market. Share images and position files alongside your bibliographic data and achieve unprecedented reach across the industry.

  • Quality assurance. We validate your ONIX files to ensure that the data you’re sending is what your data recipients are expecting.
  • All in one place. BiblioShare collects ONIX records, cover images, position files, and supplementary materials like samples, teacher’s guides, and more, for any book available in the Canadian market — with over 3 million product records and counting! Data creators maintain one set of files and data users only need to go to one authoritative source.
  • Spread far and wide. BiblioShare feeds data across the country to retailers, libraries, media, blogs, and more. Sites like 49th Shelf use our data to promote your titles. And once your data is in BiblioShare, you can create catalogues in CataList.
  • It’s free! There are no start-up costs for sending data to BiblioShare. Uploading and testing files are free and all regular data pull are free, too!
  • Support online discovery and sales. Getting your metadata right and making it available to the supply chain supports those selling or promoting books all over the country.

Getting started with BiblioShare

In order to send data to BiblioShare for distribution, you need to have ONIX files. Don’t know what ONIX is or don’t produce files? We offer a reasonably-priced Webform solution if you only have a small number of ISBNs to manage.

More intelligence for better business

SalesData is a service that gathers weekly point-of-sales data from over 2,000 retail outlets in Canada, and LibraryData collects weekly circulation data from over 80 public libraries across Canada. This data offers valuable market insights, allowing users to conduct current and historical market research, track title quantities, and make informed decisions about print runs.

  • Conduct vital, cost-effective market research and analysis. See how your titles performed, but also check out the sales history for comparable titles when putting together your P&Ls. Use historical data to plan print runs.
  • Access valuable supply-chain data. Check the on-hand and on-order quantities for your titles when planning out your reprints. See stock inventory at the retailer level.
  • Subscriber-only research. Your subscription gives you access to exclusive reports in our Research Portal, such as our monthly market snapshots and annual Canadian literary award reports.
  • Insights into the Canadian library market. Use LibraryData to compare circulation data to the retail market, produce overall ‘Popular Books’ lists, and examine library trends by genre, regions, authors, and more.
  • Be the first to know each week’s bestsellers and top-circulated titles. Set up the reports you want to see and have them sent to your inbox every week.

Getting started with SalesData & LibraryData

In order to gain access to SalesData & LibraryData, you must have sales being actively reported by retailers to the SalesData system and have bibliographic data available to the Canadian supply chain.
